Grim(m) Stories

Don’t we all love Fairy Tales? Ariel, finally united with her Prince, able to speak and walk? Rapunzel, freed from her tower to marry the Prince? Sleeping Beauty, awoken at last by the kiss of – right – her Prince?

Only, the original versions of fairytales are far less joyful, and much more grim, often cruel, and  not something I would tell my children.

Did you know about…

Sleeping Beauty – How the hell did she sleep through that?

Little Red Riding Hood – She did see the wolf

Beauty & The Beast – A classic tale of Stockholm Syndrome

Cinderella – Rhyming is a good-guy-thing

The Snow Queen – Scary, but I don’t know why.

Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp – Hurry up, people!
– Part I
– Part II

Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs – What up, pedophilia?

Rapunzel – Girl. What are you doing?

Rumpelstiltskin – Logic isn’t their strong suit

Sheherazade – It’s good to know a lot of stories

Hansel and Gretel – Dumb.Dumber.Witch

The Ugly Duckling – Bullying, Hans Ch. Andersen style

Mother Holle – No pain, no gain.

The Six Swans – 5 1/2 shirts in 6 years
